About David

From Trauma to Triumph: Dr. David Perl’s Extraordinary Journey

Growing up with a father who survived Auschwitz and a mother facing frustration and anger as a stay-at-home mom, my path to success was anything but ordinary. Seeking their approval, I pursued a career in medicine, graduating from the prestigious University of London in 1984.

Exploring various disciplines within medicine, including psychiatry and aviation medicine, I eventually founded docleaf, a renowned Crisis Management and Trauma Psychology Consultancy. Along the way, I acquired expertise in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, counseling, and even earned an advanced postgraduate diploma in Leadership Coaching.

However, it was my own personal experience of developing limerence in 2010 that ignited a new purpose within me. Determined to help others impacted by limerence, I founded limerence.net, a platform that includes a supportive forum to aid individuals on their healing journey.

But my passion extends beyond relationships. I am dedicated to empowering men to become the best versions of themselves. As a volunteer for the ManKind Project charity, I contribute my time and expertise to help men lead lives filled with integrity, honesty, and responsibility.

When I’m not transforming lives, I indulge my creative side. I took on the immense challenge of renovating a dilapidated farmhouse, and not stopping there, I even built an airplane in my very own garage. Traveling is another passion of mine, and I’ve been fortunate enough to explore an astounding 95 countries and counting.

Join me on this extraordinary journey from trauma to triumph. Together, we will overcome obstacles, heal wounds, and create a life filled with love, purpose, and adventure.

About Ruth

Compassion Runs in the Family: Meet Ruth, the Heart-Centered Helper

The spirit of caring and nurturing flows through my veins. Growing up in a family of nurses, including my mother, sister, and aunt, I was inspired to follow a similar path. I trained as a nurse, where I discovered my deep passion for supporting individuals impacted by loss and bereavement.

While my nursing career eventually transitioned, I embarked on a remarkable journey. Climbing the corporate ladder and embracing the joys of motherhood, I dedicated myself to raising two beautiful daughters. During this time, I also collaborated with David, lending my expertise to business development and running training workshops.

Driven by an unwavering desire to make a profound impact, I pursued further education and qualifications. I am a qualified therapist with a diploma in therapeutic counseling. Additionally, I hold a postgraduate diploma in psychosynthesis psychology and an advanced postgraduate diploma in leadership coaching.

My fascination with bereavement stems from my experience working alongside the spiritual and psychology care team at a hospice. I have facilitated empowering women’s groups for survivors of sexual and domestic abuse and violence, providing a safe space for healing and growth.

Having spent significant time in a rehabilitation center, I have acquired extensive experience in understanding and supporting individuals with various types of addictions. My understanding of this complex condition runs deep.

A true passion of mine lies in the practice of meditation and mindfulness. For years, I have actively participated in and co-facilitated groups, honing my knowledge and skills to guide others in embracing these transformative practices.

Today, I stand before you as a compassionate and dedicated helper, committed to empowering individuals on their healing journeys. With my nurturing support and diverse expertise, we will navigate life’s challenges and uncover the boundless potential within you.

Your ally in finding peace, resilience, and inner harmony. Let’s embark on this transformative path together, embracing the power of compassion and self-discovery.

How we met

David and Ruth met at the doctor’s leaving party of his first medical rotation as a newly qualified medic in 1984. David passed Ruth on the way to the restroom as she was exiting. In that moment, he was captivated by her so stopped her and started chatting. As they say, the rest is history.

Their three decade marriage, like most enduring long term relationships has been through its own ups and downs. They have written about their most challenging time. David’s story can be read here and Ruth’s story, here.

These experiences led them to both become more curious about relationships and helped forge their interest in relationships and better understanding the dynamics of what makes long term relationships work.

LoveRelations was born out of their combined interests and for over a decade has been helping both individuals and couples globally in creating more meaningful, loving, and satisfying relationships.

Regardless of our qualifications and life experience, its important to add that we have between us undertaken over 1,000 hours of our own personal and group psychotherapy and other deep psychological work.  Our belief is we need to look inwards and touch our souls. It is there that we find true connection to ourselves and others
